EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
Sometimes, the past refuses to stay in the past.
We all have those moments that should be “over,” yet they feel as insistent as the notifications on our phones.
Maybe it’s a specific family dynamic that left you feeling small, or a moment where you felt completely unseen. You’ve tried to talk yourself out of it logically, but your nervous system didn’t get the memo.
When a certain tone of voice or a stressful afternoon hits, you aren’t just “remembering” the past. You’re physically reliving it, heart racing, and breath caught in your throat.
It feels like you have journeyed back to the past, and it’s happening all over again.

Put the past back where it belongs.
We’ll use EMDR to teach your body and brain that you aren’t reliving the past.
You will learn to let your brain remember those experiences without your body responding as if it’s happening again. As a result, you will be able to step away, give it space, and see it with a new eye.
Through that eye, you can stay calm and in control, even in the face of something that used to make your body crumple or panic.
Here’s how EMDR works.
After careful preparation, you get to determine where to begin.
Using gentle eye movements or tapping, we’ll work together to take the emotional heat out of those old experiences.
You decide how far you want to let your mind dip into those experiences as you progress and learn to disconnect the past from the present in your body. The tapping/eye movement allows your body to stay regulated while those experiences come to mind.
Eventually, you will find situations that used to make you feel like a scared kid again now feel manageable, allowing you to stand tall in the present with a sense of grounded self-assurance.

Rewrite your narrative.
You’ve carried these echoes long enough; it’s time for a new track.
EMDR is a proven therapeutic approach for dealing with past traumatic experiences (big and small), allowing you to mentally process those experiences in a new light, as you move forward to the life you desire and deserve.
